DeKalb Clinic Will Join KishHealth System

DEKALB, Ill. – The DeKalb Clinic will become the newest member of KishHealth System. It is a result of KishHealth System’s ongoing dialogue with local providers and agencies to improve the coordination of health services in the community. A letter of intent was signed that outlines the terms, and the transaction is anticipated to be completed in the first quarter of 2015. Due to national changes in the healthcare landscape, physician practices are choosing to become part of hospitals and health systems across the country.

“We acknowledge the changing landscape of healthcare today and how it affects our community. Our board continually looks at new ways to improve healthcare quality and accessibility for our patients,” said Kevin Poorten, KishHealth System president and CEO. “The KishHealth System and DeKalb Clinic boards of directors agreed that this strategy is an exciting and positive development for the delivery of healthcare in our community.”

“The DeKalb Clinic has been a fixture in the community for over 60 years and has always been dedicated to the highest quality of patient care. The DeKalb Clinic and KishHealth System share this commitment to excellence in patient care, innovation, and education” said Dr. Roger Haab, DeKalb Clinic chairman. “We see this venture as an opportunity to further those goals, providing our patients with state of the art healthcare in our community setting and we look forward to becoming a vital integral part of a growing premiere healthcare system.”

“KishHealth System and the DeKalb Clinic are two of the largest healthcare providers in DeKalb County. Uniting the two organizations is reflective of a national trend that drives hospitals and physicians to work closer than ever before,” said Joe Dant, VP of KishHealth System Business Development. “The area’s independent physicians are also working with Kishwaukee Hospital in a more meaningful way to enhance and coordinate patient care.”
