Scholarships for Healthcare Careers
The following healthcare scholarships are available to DeKalb County residents. Please note that Valley West Hospital scholarships also are available to students who live in parts of Kendall County and LaSalle County.
Kishwaukee Hospital Auxiliary Scholarships
The Kishwaukee Hospital Auxiliary offers scholarships to residents of DeKalb County who are enrolled in a college-level health-related program. The recipient’s legal address must be DeKalb, Sycamore, Cortland, Genoa, Kingston, Kirkland, Malta, Sandwich, Somonauk, or Waterman.
Applications must be submitted by April 16 for the subsequent fall semester.

Valley West Hospital Auxiliary Scholarships
The Valley West Auxiliary offers scholarships to any student who lives in a community served by Valley West Hospital. This includes Earlville, Sandwich, Plano, Somonauk, Leland, Yorkville, Bristol, Sheridan, Serena, Newark, Millington, Millbrook, Big Rock, Hinckley and Waterman.
The student must be a high school graduate and show proof of acceptance into a post-secondary health-related program. Application forms, transcripts and test scores must be returned by June 1 for the subsequent fall semester.
Health Foundation Scholarships
The KishHealth System Foundation maintains three scholarships for students pursuing degrees in medicine and diagnostic imaging and encourages donations to these funds. If you'd like to donate to the funds below, please contact the Health Foundation at 815.748.9954.

James J. Feeney, MD, Memorial Scholarship
Established by Dr. Feeney’s widow and daughters to award an annual scholarship to a DeKalb County student accepted in a college-level, pre-medical curriculum or enrolled as a full-time student in an accredited medical school curriculum.
Floann and Hallie Hamilton Diagnostic Imaging Scholarship
Floann and Hallie Hamilton, longtime members of the Kish Hospital Auxiliary, established an annual scholarship to benefit a DeKalb County student enrolled in a diagnostic imaging curriculum.
Kishwaukee Hospital Physicians’ Medical Education Scholarship
Spearheading creation of this fund is Photine Liakos, MD. Since its inception in 2004, the fund has received $7,232.21 in donations. Students from DeKalb County who are currently enrolled full-time in accredited medical school curriculums are eligible to apply for this scholarship. The scholarship is intended to assist and encourage young people to join the medical and ancillary health services professions.
