Join Kish Hospital in celebrating the second annual Food Day, Oct. 24! This is a nationwide celebration and movement to encourage healthier, budget friendly, and sustainable food choices. Food Day was started by the nonprofit Center for Science in the Public Interest and is comprised of a diverse group of organizations. This day is set aside to raise awareness and address various issues such as health and nutrition, hunger, and improve our nation’s food policies. Food Day seeks to transform the American diet and promotes limiting the intake of salt, sugar, fat, and overly processed foods. Their slogan is, “It’s time to Eat Real!” Join the celebration and transform your diet! Need help?

Food Day Recipe: Roasted Veggies with Attitude

Toss 1 lb. broccoli and cauliflower florets in 2 Tbs. extra-virgin olive oil. Roast on a baking tray at 400 degrees F for 20 minutes. Whisk together 1 Tbs. each of lemon juice, extra-virgin olive oil, minced shallot, and grated Parmesan with up to 1/8 tsp. salt, a little ground pepper, and the zest from lemon. Toss with the roasted florets.
