VWCH Quilt Winner Announced

This year, local residents won both items. Lois Hamilton of Wildwood South in Sandwich won the queen size quilt in multicolor on white. The record player/radio/CD player was won by Paula Grimm of Earlville. Both ladies have purchased raffle tickets every year for many years at the fair.Winners of the raffle items at the Valley West Hospital Auxiliary booth at the Sandwich Fair were announced at the closing of the Fair.

The quilt raffle has been a tradition for the auxiliary for decades. In its familiar corner location in the commercial building next to the horticultural building, the winners of the scholarships for those pursuing careers in allied health fields are also announced.

This year’s scholarship winners, their towns and their schools include: Jaclyn Adkins, Somonauk, Nursing; Katharine Bohnstedt, Sheridan, Nursing; Robert Hoffert, Somonauk, Optometry; Mindy Miller, Sandwich, Dental Hygiene; and Jill Reid, Sandwich, Nursing.

The annual quilt raffle is just one of the projects sponsored throughout the year to benefit the hospital. Over the years, auxiliary projects have provided technological advances, patient comfort items as well as the scholarships. Upcoming projects include the Holiday Cookie Sale and the Gala Ball to be held April 1, 2006.
