KishHealth System Opens Genoa location

May 19, 2006

KishHealth System announces the opening of KishHealth Family and Specialty Care, at 599 Pearson Drive, Genoa.

Physical therapy and massage therapy services are provided by Unlimited Performance Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine, a department of Kishwaukee Community Hospital.

Dr. Karen Federici, a family practice and obstetrics physician, will begin serving the Genoa area there full time in September.

“We’ve heard from Genoa residents for quite a while that they’d like a full-time physician, and we are thrilled that Dr. Federici will be able to fill that need. She’ll be able to see adults, children and even deliver babies,” said Michael Kokott, assistant vice president, marketing and planning, for KishHealth System. Dr. Federici will start practice the first week of September.

Genoa’s KishHealth Family and Specialty Care also is a satellite site for Kishwaukee Community Hospital’s Unlimited Performance Rehabilitation and Sports Medicine. Unlimited Performance’s main facility is in Sycamore. A second satellite facility is located in Hampshire.

The Genoa location is also staffed by Mike Andrews and Kimberly Bauch. Andrews, a Genoa resident, is a licensed physical therapist with over 18 years of experience. Bauch, from the Rockford area, is a licensed massage therapist with more than 15 years' experience in fitness training.

In addition, the KCH diabetes education team will be bringing services there. A free presentation on diabetes management will be held Tuesday, June 13, 6-7 p.m. No registration is necessary. Appointments for diabetes education will be available starting in August. For information, call the KCH Diabetes Education Center at 815.748.8378.

Classes and screenings, coordinated by the hospital’s Community Wellness Department, also will be held at the Genoa facility.
