June 14, 2006

Friends and colleagues of Nancy Vidlak are invited to an open house Thursday, June 29, 1-2:30 p.m., celebrating her years of service with KishHealth System. Vidlak is retiring after 20 years.

Vidlak started working on her college degree at the age of 27 and graduated summa cum laude with a degree in journalism and public relations from Northern Illinois University 11 years later, while raising three children.

She was a student intern with Kishwaukee Community Hospital’s Community Relations and Development Department from 1983-84. She then worked for the department for three years, and came back in 1989 as department director. She was promoted to her current position as vice president of the Kishwaukee Health Foundation in 1998, when the donor development and community relation functions were separated.

Development responsibilities now include fund-raising efforts for KCH, DeKalb County Hospice, Valley West Community Hospital and the Health Foundation. Vidlak's crowning achievement has been coordinating the $7 million community campaign for the new Kishwaukee Community Hospital.

She also has been very active in the community. She is a past chair of the DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, DeKalb County Chapter of the American Cancer Society and the American Heart Association; as well as past president of Kishwaukee Sunrise Rotary and the DeKalb Ski Club. She also has served as Rotary publicity chair for the past four years.

Vidlak has been active in DeKalb's First United Methodist Church for more than 20 years, serving as chair of the Evangelism and Outreach Commissions. She currently sits on the church's Foundation board. In 1999, she received DeKalb's ATHENA award, recognizing her professional achievements and community service.

Nancy and her husband, Toby, will be retiring to their lake home in Wisconsin.

The open house will be held in Kishwaukee Community Hospital's Murphy Education Center, 626 Bethany Rd., DeKalb.
