Valley West Auxiliary Celebrates Volunteers

June 11, 2007

Spring was in the air at St. John’s Catholic Church in Somonauk on Thursday, May 17, as the Valley West Community Hospital met for its annual meeting and spring luncheon. Events that took place included the swearing in of new officers, remembrance of Nancy Nicholson, Mary Johnson and Candy Cuneo, and recognition of dedicated volunteers.

There are 68 active in-service volunteers who donated more than 8,500 hours in 2006, an increase of nearly 300 hours over the year before. Six volunteers were inducted into the “500 Club.” This program honors volunteers who donate 500 or more hours, and are accumulative from year to year. This year, the following volunteers reached this goal and were presented with a “Club 500” pin: Jo Adrian, Bonnie Thompson, Donna Futrell, Mary Grash, Karol Grandgeorge, and Sandy Heher. They join previous club members Andy Anderson, Bonnie Bernhardt, Colleen Cunningham, Doris Grover, Betty Hargraves, Joanne Johnson, Don Lorenz, Doris Lorenz, Collette Menth, Doris Miller, Joyce Sanders, Sara Taylor and Doris Waldrop.

The following volunteers were honored for having 200-300 hours of service in 2006: Don Lorenz, Doris Miller, Bonnie Thompson, and Doris Waldrop.

Three volunteers were recognized for their extreme dedication in 2006: Betty Hargraves, 335 hours; Sara Taylor, 742 hours; and Colleen Cunningham, 806 hours.
