UnitedHealthcare and KishHealth System Sign New Aggreement

UnitedHealthcare members have expanded access to affordable quality health care

CHICAGO (Oct. 24, 2007) – UnitedHealthcare and KishHealth System today announced they have signed a new agreement. The agreement includes a new network contract with KishHealth System’s Kishwaukee Community Hospital located in Dekalb, IL and a renewed contract with Valley West Community Hospital located in Sandwich, IL.

This new contract expands UnitedHealthcare’s network hospitals in the western suburbs of Chicago. The new contract effective November 15, 2007 covers all commercial products.

“The signing of this new contract between UnitedHealthcare and KishHealth System clearly demonstrates our commitment to providing broad access to quality, affordable health care services,” said Tom Wiffler, CEO of UnitedHealthcare of Illinois. “We appreciate the collaborative effort that went into reaching this agreement. Our new relationship with KishHealth System’s Kishwaukee Community Hospital and renewed contract with Valley West Community gives our members expanded access and increased choice in the western suburbs of Chicago.”

Kevin Poorten, KHS President and CEO said, “This contract will now allow access to KishHealth System’s two hospitals for a significant number of UnitedHealthcare covered lives in the area. This strategy is part of the System’s commitment to expand the number of insurers that we have a contract with in direct response to the growth in our community and the feedback we have received from local residents.”

“The UnitedHealthcare contract is a major addition to the hospitals’ health insurance offerings”, said Joseph Dant, Vice President of Business Development for the health system, “United Healthcare has been the most frequently requested and asked about national plan for several years. The opening of the new hospital in DeKalb and the growth in the number of nationally-based businesses in the community helped in finalizing this agreement. We are very pleased to extend this new choice to area employers and patients.”
