Valley West Community Hospital Relay For Life Team Fundraising Events

May 15, 2008

Valley West Community Hospital is participating in the American Cancer Society’s Lower Fox Valley Relay For Life on June 13-14. The team of hospital employees and their families are working to raise money for the American Cancer Society through a variety of fundraisers. Team members include Dawn Baker-Lomax, Allison Bryan, Chris Cain, Deanna Francis, Deb Heise, Mark Jourdan, Barbara Martinez, Deb McCloud, Carol Miller, and Steve Wolf.

Since mid-April, the Valley West Relay For Life Team has raised more than $1,000 toward their $8,000 goal through fundraisers at the Sandwich Pizza Hut, a bake sale and an ongoing ribbon sale at the hospital. The team also has a number of fundraising events planned for May and June.

The next two events take place on Wednesday, May 21, kicking off at 8 a.m. with the Karen Sepaniak Memorial Bake Sale in the Valley West Community Hospital lobby. The public is welcome to donate baked goods for sale or to stop by the lobby to purchase something. Another Sandwich Pizza Hut Fundraiser will follow the bake sale that evening. Coupons for the Pizza Hut fundraiser are available from Valley West Relay for Life team members and at the front desk of the hospital.

On Saturday, May 24, Red Bud Creek Farm, 2930 North 4351 Road, located south of Sandwich just east of South Main Street, will donate a portion of sales to the Valley West Relay For Life team. The following weekend, on Saturday, May 31, the Sandwich Country Greenhouse, located at 17565 Wagner Road north of Sandwich, will also donate a portion of their sales to the  Team.

Your purchases at the bake sale, Pizza Hut and nurseries will help the Valley West Relay For Life team meet their fundraising goal of $8,000.

The last fundraising event is a 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament scheduled for Sunday, June 1 at Sandwich High School. This tournament is for players age 13-18 (girls & boys). The entry fee is $20 for team of three or four players. Registration forms are available at all area high schools and junior highs.

In addition to the events listed above, the Valley West Community Hospital Relay For Life Team is also hosting an on-going Silent Auction. There are more than a dozen auctions items including Cubs and White Sox tickets, spa treatments, and hair styling. All money raised will be donated the Relay for Life and will go directly to the American Cancer Society.
