Dr. Patel Returns to Community

October 6, 2008

Dr. Jagdish Patel, board certified cardiologist, is practicing once again in the community and began seeing patients in his Sycamore office Oct. 2.

Dr. Patel will be available daily to see patients at Kishwaukee Community Hospital and in the Emergency Department. He will see outpatients two days a week at 2550 Hauser Ross Drive, Suite 325, Sycamore, and also will continue to see patients in Sandwich, where he has been practicing for the past two years.

Dr. Patel has been on the medical staff at KCH for 12 years and on staff at Valley West Community Hospital since 2006. His expertise is in diagnostic cardiology, nuclear medicine, risk factor management for complex cardiac cases, preventive heart care, post cardiac surgery and post heart attack care, post stent and PTCA management, heart failure, diabetes and the heart, adult congenital heart disease, heart disease of pregnancy and heart conditions of athletes, emergency and acute care, ICU and critical care management. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease and nuclear cardiology.

Dr. Patel previously practiced 10 years at DeKalb Clinic, but moved his practice to Sandwich in 2006.

Last April, Dr. Patel was one of three doctors selected for KishHealth System's Acclaimed Physician Award. He was recognized for being "a champion of quality," having spearheaded the "100,000 Lives Campaign," a national quality and patient safety initiative. He has since helped to implement the "5 Million Lives" campaign.

He also has been instrumental in establishing rapid response teams at both hospitals, a strategy for intervening with a patient before a medical crisis develops. Earlier in his career at KCH, he worked with emergency medicine doctors to improve the Emergency Department's response to patients presenting with heart attacks.

His office can be reached at 815-748-7076 (DeKalb) or 815-786-7076 (Sandwich).
