New Vascular Specialists at Kishwaukee Community Hospital

Three new vascular specialists of Affiliated Surgeons of Rockford, of Illinois Vascular Associates, have joined the medical staff of Kishwaukee Community Hospital. They are expanding their practice to serve the DeKalb County area. 

Physicians Paul Klazura, MD, Michael Kikta, MD, and Kendall Boone, MD, are providing services to the area that did not exist locally including VNUS radiofrequency vein closure for varicose veins; percutaneous stent repair of leg, kidney and neck; treatments for abdominal and thoracic aortic aneurysms; treatments for atherosclerotic disease of the extremities; treatments for renal and carotid arteries; wound care; and dialysis access.

The new physicians are seeing patients in the Specialty Clinic in Suite 203 on the second floor of the Medical Office Building in Kishwaukee Community Hospital every other Tuesday morning. Patients are being accepted now. Please call 815.964.3030 for appointments. 

Paul J. Klazura, MD, FACS Paul J. Klazura, MD, is a native of Chicago and has lived in Rockford since 1991.  Dr. Klazura received a B.S. in engineering from the University of Illinois in 1973, and attended medical school at St. Louis University in St. Louis. After graduation, he spent four years as a flight surgeon with the U.S. Army Medical Corps. Dr. Klazura returned in 1982, to a residency in surgery at the University of Illinois and Cook County Hospitals in Chicago. After his residency, he joined a surgical group practice in Fitchburg, MA, but after three years left to begin a vascular surgery fellowship at the Geisinger Medical Center in Pennsylvania.

Dr. Klazura joined the Rockford Clinic Department of Surgery in 1991, and started the only single specialty practice of Vascular Surgery in Rockford. Dr. Kikta joined Dr. Klazura in 1994, and Dr. Boone arrived in 2000. Now practicing as Illinois Vascular Associates, they are the only single specialty group of board certified vascular surgeons in the area surrounded by Madison, Milwaukee, Chicago, and Iowa City. Dr. Klazura is especially proud of the high quality vascular care that their single specialty group has brought to Rockford, in addition to the ongoing national accreditation of their noninvasive vascular laboratory. He is also the president and managing partner of the Affiliated Surgeons of Rockford.

Michael J. Kikta, MD, FACS Michael Kikta, MD, hails from Downers Grove. He received his B.S. in engineering- at Purdue University and then went on to medical school at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He did his general surgery residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago and Cook County Hospital, spending an additional year as a research fellow in vascular surgery. After spending time as a general surgeon with the U.S. Navy, he was deployed with the U.S. Marines. He returned to Columbia, MO, where he completed a fellowship in vascular surgery. He moved to Rockford in 1994 to join Dr. Klazura.

Dr. Kikta is board certified in vascular surgery and in general surgery. He is a member of multiple surgical societies. He is a fellow of The American College of Surgeons. 

Kendall D. Boone, MD, FACS  Kendall Boone, MD, grew up in the east Texas town of Tyler. After high school he- spent a year in the Coast Guard Academy. He then returned to Tyler for a year of junior college where he became interested in medicine. He finished his premedical degree in Tulsa, OK. He attended the University of Texas in San Antonio for medical school. From Texas, the Dr. Boone went to Iowa City, where he completed a general surgery residency and then a peripheral vascular surgery fellowship. In the spring of 2000, he joined the Rockford Clinic.

Dr. Boone is board certified in vascular surgery and general surgery. He is a member of the Christian Medical and Dental Society. He is a fellow of The American College of Surgeons.
