Valley West Wellness Fair & Family Fun Walk

June 18, 2009

The Valley West Community Hospital Wellness Fair is set for Thursday, July 2, from 1 - 4 p.m.  An annual event, the Valley West Wellness Fair is designed to share health, safety and wellness information with Sandwich and surrounding communities. Join us to learn about getting your Bodies in Motion, and the short and long-term benefits of regular movement and exercise.

At the Wellness Fair, the public will have access to numerous vendors and exhibitors in the health and safety field, including many hospital departments and services.

In addition to the large number of vendors attending, Valley West Rehabilitation Services is sponsoring a Family Fun Walk, a short walking event to encourage families to get moving together. Activity and give-away stations along the route will help keep families moving and interested along the route. Registration takes place at 2:30 p.m. the day of the Wellness Fair.

The Wellness Fair features activities for adults and children, including blood pressure screenings and body fat analysis, glucose finger sticks (2 hour fasting necessary), cardiac risk assessments, eye and hearing screenings, as well as games, themed photo tent, jump castle, bungee run, human spheres and petting zoo.

Valley West Community Hospital will provide bike helmets and fittings for the first 150 children while supplies last. Fittings are done courtesy of Mudslingers Bike & Skate Shop. In addition the walk and activities, the Wellness Fair also features fitness demonstrations and the announcement of the Valley West and Fox Valley Family YMCA’s Weight No More competition. Water and healthy snacks will be available at no cost. This event is free to the public.
