New Doctor Office Coming to Waterman

September 21, 2009

KishHealth Family & Specialty Care, WatermanA new location for KishHealth Family & Specialty Care is under construction in Waterman and will open in November. The project represents a relocation of the Shabbona practice to better serve the area.

“The new location at U.S. 30 and Il 23 will provide more space for exam rooms and other services and allow the health system to better serve the U.S. 30 corridor,” said Kevin Poorten, KishHealth System President and CEO.

KishHealth purchased the Shabbona office in 2005, when family physician, Robert Purdy, retired after practicing 52 years at that location.

“Dr. Purdy sold his practice to the health system to make sure that part of the county would continue to have access to doctors. The new location in Waterman continues Dr. Purdy’s legacy and at the same time provides a more modern facility and better access to the population along U.S.30, including Shabbona, Waterman and Hinckley,” Poorten said.

Pediatrician Puspha Mamtani and Internist Ghori Khan, who have been seeing patients in Shabbona, will move to the new location. They also practice in Sycamore. The 3,400-square-foot facility also includes an onsite laboratory, a room for counseling and consultations, and a community room for use by local organizations and health system-sponsored community education programs.
