Outpatient Psychiatry Expands

October 4, 2010

Three recent developments with KishHealth Counseling Services are in keeping with the health system’s pledge to expand outpatient behavioral health services.

  1. Psychiatrist Thomas A. Dennison, MD, has expanded his hours at KishHealth Counseling in DeKalb.
  2. KishHealth Counseling is now providing services on Thursday afternoon in Sandwich, including psychiatric services with Dr. Dennison.
  3. KishHealth Counseling, now at 8 Health Services Drive, DeKalb, is moving Nov. 1 to Sycamore by Cardinal Fitness.

Dr. Dennison has been on the Kish medical staff providing outpatient psychiatry services in the community for 20 years. For the past four years, he also has been providing services in Oregon, Sterling, Mt. Carroll, and Dixon, and has had limited hours with KishHealth Counseling.

“We know the need for psychiatric services in our area is high and are thrilled that more people now will be able to experience Dr. Dennison’s personal touch and availability to his patients,” said Kim Volk, director, KishHealthCounseling & EAP Services. Dr. Dennison’s office hours in DeKalb are Mondays, 8 a.m.-7:30 p.m.; Tuesdays, 8 a.m.-5 p.m., and Thursdays, 8 a.m.-noon. Psychiatrist Diana Kraft, MD, MSW, also continues to see patients on Mondays, from 8 a.m.-8 p.m., and on Wednesdays, from 11 a.m.-5 p.m.

In addition, the staff of five licensed therapists and counselors has expertise in many areas of behavioral health, including counseling for young children, adolescents, and adults. A free 15-minute consultation is offered to new clients.

KishHealth Counseling in Sandwich is located in Suite 208 of the Valley West Medical Office Building. Therapists and Dr. Dennison have office hours on Thursdays from 1-5 p.m. Hours will be expanded as need demands.
