New Physician at Valley West Community Hospital

Dr. AlghafeerValley West Community Hospital is proud to announce the recent addition of Rheumatologist Ibrahim Alghafeer MD, to the medical staff. Dr. Alghafeer joins the practice of Midwest Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) in Sandwich where he’ll work side-by-side with orthopedists to provide care for patients with severe arthritic problems. 

“Rheumatology is extremely complex and I find it both intellectually challenging and personally rewarding,” says Alghafeer.  “Rheumatologic diseases tend to be multi-systemic diseases, and often involve multiple organs, which can be debilitating and painful. Providing the correct diagnosis and care makes a huge difference in our patients’ lives.” 

Dr. Alghafeer received his medical degree from Damascus University School of Medicine in Damascus, Syria, where he completed an internship in Internal Medicine. Dr. Alghafeer then completed a second internship in internal medicine at Temple University, Frankford Hospital in Philadelphia, and performed his residency in internal medicine at the University of Rochester, Unity Health System, before completing a fellowship in rheumatology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry in New Jersey.  

Dr. Alghafeer will discuss “The Aches and Pains of Fibromyalgia” on Tuesday, April 12, at Valley West Community Hospital’s Medical Office Building.  Register for the free program by calling the Valley West Community Wellness Department at 815.786.3962.
