Employees Give to Heart of Hospital Campaign

April 26, 2013

Sandwich, IL – Valley West Community Hospital, part of KishHealth System, is in the middle of an $11.2 million investment, adding a new 21-room patient wing to the facility along with other major improvements. KishHealth Foundation’s Heart of the Hospital campaign is raising $1.36 million for the new wing. A special employee giving opportunity to honor long-time and recently retired Valley West employees, Mike and Jenelle Muzzillo, is part of this campaign.

KishHealth Foundation Executive Director, Marcy Rubic, is pleased to announce that employees have exceeded their $30,000 goal by 26 percent, months ahead of schedule, to name the new family lounge in honor of Mike and Jenelle Muzzillo.

Valley West employees gather with Mike and Jenelle Muzzillo at the KishHealth Foundation Giving Tree to celebrate reaching and surpassing their goal.

“Valley West Community Hospital is known for personalized care that is well-suited to its community,” said Rubic. “The dedication and loyalty demonstrated by hospital employees is genuinely inspiring.  The way they give back to the patients as well as the way they have demonstrated their support of this campaign reflects their high commitment to delivering care in a setting that is modern and well-suited to today’s patient needs.”

Mike Muzzillo served in administrative capacities for Valley West for 44 years; Jenelle was a nurse there for 40 years. Together, they gave 88 years of combined service to the hospital. “The public can continue to support the Valley West expansion in a variety of ways. Individuals and organizations are encouraged to contact the health foundation to learn about giving and naming opportunities,” said Rubic.

Donations to Heart of the Hospital have allowed Valley West Community Hospital to keep pace with medical advances. Many hospital projects and medical equipment purchases have been funded by the Heart of the Hospital campaign over the last several years including HUGS, an infant monitoring system in Maternity Suites and new diagnostic ultrasound system in the diagnostic imaging department, primarily used for cardiac imaging and vascular studies.

KishHealth Foundation wishes to thank all past and present donors to the Valley West Heart of the Hospital fund.
