Sandwich, Ill. – Just over 100 community members and donors attended the KishHealth Foundation Hard Hat Tour donor appreciation event at Valley West Community Hospital in Sandwich. Hospital leaders gave all attendees tours through the new patient wing construction, which is expected to open this fall.

“Our donor appreciation event gave us a chance to thank our donors for their generosity and commitment to the hospital and health system. It’s always a pleasure to spend time with them and let them know exactly how grateful we are,” said Marcy Rubic, KishHealth Foundation executive director.

Highlights of the tour included the new entrance, featuring a spacious new lobby with a central fireplace, a new gift shop that will be staffed by hospital Auxiliary volunteers, as well as the 19 new patient rooms. The new wing will improve care delivery, and significant investments are being made to enhance services including upgrading clinical technology throughout the hospital and using a robust physician recruitment program to provide a wider range of medical specialties.

This fall, the medical/surgical and intensive care units will move to the new wing, and the facilities oldest wing, which currently faces Pleasant Avenue, will be demolished and replaced with a modern façade. Additional interior renovations are also planned.
