Renovations Continue at Valley West Hospital

July 3, 2014

Sandwich, Ill. - Valley West Hospital has completed the demolition of part of its building originally constructed in the 1960s, as part of the next phase of remodeling and reconstruction of the facility. For the remainder of this week, contractors are cleaning up the demolished structure and transporting it away from the campus.

Dave Proulx, assistant vice president of Valley West Hospital Operations, KishHealth System Laboratories and Facilities, said, “When the cleanup is finished contractors will begin to remove the concrete slab and prepare the site for the construction of the MRI addition.” Despite rain delays, the project is on target. “At this point, I am confident that all work will be completed in the fall and that MRI will be operational and ready for use in October,” he added.

Currently the MRI machine is located in a trailer adjacent to the southwest side of the hospital. Facility upgrades to Valley West Hospital have been ongoing since 2012, which include a patient wing, gift shop, and registration and information areas, improving the building’s services, access, and aesthetics.
