Chris Laurent of KishHealth System Physical Therapy Center presents a check to Lynette Spencer of Adventure Works of DeKalb Co.SYCAMORE, Ill. - The 7th annual KishHealth System Physical Therapy Center 5K Run/Walk, held on May 31, raised $5,521, with an additional contribution of $3,000 by KishHealth System, for a total of $8,521 that was donated to Adventure Works of DeKalb Co. Lynette Spencer, executive director of Adventure Works, received the donation from Chris Laurent, KishHealth System Physical Therapy Center athletic trainer and race director in August.

The popular 3.1-mile event hosted 444 registered participants. “This was our largest turnout ever and the local community has once again been very generous with financial sponsorships, product donations, time and effort that has allowed us to provide an enjoyable experience for all participants as well as the approximately 50 volunteers,” said Chris Laurent. “Due to the strong support we get from both the local community and KishHealth System we have been able to make this event a success each year, for this the staff at the Physical Therapy Center would like to thank all those who helped and participated.”

Although the event was very competitive for a number of runners, it was also meant for each individual to test their personal fitness abilities. Participants ranged in age from 5 to 79. The overall winner was Matthew Rogowski of DeKalb with a time of 18:36. The women’s winner was Renee Schroeder of DeKalb who finished 20th overall with a time of 22:52. All runners received a goody bag and t-shirt prior to the run and were treated to post race food, water, stretching, massage, music and a number of raffle prizes. Results and pictures are posted at www.kishpt5K.org and www.racetime.info.
