KishHealth System Welcomes GI Physician

October 15, 2014Dr. Khurram Qadir

SANDWICH, Ill. – Khurram Qadir, MD, gastroenterologist and hepatologist, has joined the KishHealth System Physician Group and is accepting new patients at the KishHealth System Physician Group office locations in Sandwich, Plano, and Aurora.

Dr. Qadir received his medical degree from Army Medical College, Pakistan, following which he completed an internal medicine residency at the University of Connecticut Health Science Center in 1995. He then completed a fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology at the University of Iowa. He joined the University of Iowa’s GI faculty and developed an expertise in inflammatory bowel disease and obesity. He was actively involved in a state-wide effort to combat the growing problem of obesity and was medical director of the multi-disciplinary University of Iowa Weight Management Program, which he began in 2002. After seven years on the faculty at the university he moved to Aurora, where he ran a busy solo gastroenterology practice for seven years.

“My approach to patient care is one of taking care of the person, not only his or her ailment, disease, or complaint. I focus on the patient’s lifestyle because many gastrointestinal diseases stem from unhealthy lifestyles. This includes common conditions such as acid reflux disease (heartburn), constipation, and irritable bowel syndrome. I try to move patients away from unhealthy habits,” said Dr. Qadir. “I also believe that when patients come to me with an ailment they put their trust in me that I should do my best to help them. I do this by being honest, diligent, and thorough.” Dr. Qadir provides a broad array of gastroenterology procedures in addition to routine endoscopic procedures, including capsule endoscopy, wireless pH system for evaluating complex cases of acid reflux disease, and CRH O’Regan in-office hemorrhoid banding, a quick, highly effective and painless way of treating troubling hemorrhoidal complaints.
