KishHealth System Cancer Center in Sandwich has Moved

November 9, 2015

Valley West Hospital Medical Office Building, SandwichSANDWICH, Ill. - KishHealth System Cancer Center in Sandwich has recently relocated to a new space on the second floor of the Valley West Medical Office Building on the campus of Valley West Hospital. The new space provides a much needed upgrade to comfort and accessibility, as well as, furniture and décor. Patients and staff will benefit tremendously by the move of the center into the larger, newly built space. At the new location, each patient has a personal bay in which to receive treatment. Family and friends are encouraged to accompany patients to provide them support during treatments and are now able to sit with them in a private space. Each patient bay also has its own television and a large floor to ceiling window, making each space comfortable.

Persons needing wheelchair or walker assistance have access to an elevator immediately upon entering the Medical Office Building. Restrooms are also ADA compliant. “With the hospital right next door, patients have the availability to utilize laboratory or diagnostic imaging services there before appointments, and then come over for their treatments,” said Ramesh Kola, MD, from Medical Oncology and Hematology Services at the KishHealth System Cancer Center in Sandwich and Aurora.

Having cancer treatment options located conveniently close to home is beneficial to patients. Within the new Sandwich office location, a variety of services are offered that keep patients from having to travel for their treatment. KishHealth System offers a variety of services locally and Dr. Kola is proud of the amount of services patients can receive in Sandwich. He said, “Patients can receive infusions, target therapy, diagnostic imaging, biopsy, and surgery, in addition to physical therapy, occupational therapy, and nutrition counseling. Patients can also receive pain clinic services, social worker support, group support classes, and various counseling services.” And because the Cancer Center is part of KishHealth System, patients experience streamlined treatment plans and services, especially when additional actions are needed. “Patients may need to travel to the KishHealth System Cancer Center in DeKalb for radiation therapy or for a diagnostic PET scan. Both of these services require equipment that is housed in a central location for our patients to access,” stated Dr. Kola.

The KishHealth System Cancer Center has four convenient locations at 1315 N. Highland Ave., Suite 201, Aurora; 1310 N. Main Street, Suite 201, Sandwich; 10 Health Services Drive, DeKalb; and 450 Coronado Drive, Rochelle.
