Additional Informative Considerations

At the end of the appointment, the clinician will discuss the evaluation process with you and additional information he or she needs to address your concerns. Assessments may need to be conducted over multiple sessions.

Child psychologists at KishHealth System collect information from multiple sources, including parents, teachers, and the child/adolescent, using many different measures:

  • Interviews
  • Questionnaires
  • Observations
  • Standardized instruments
  • Review of records (with consent) from school report cards, special education testing, etc.

Next Steps after Assessment

Depending on your concerns, you and your child may also meet with our medical staff as part of our multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach. This could include face-to-face time with a registered nurse or pediatrician.

Scoring assessments, interpreting results, and documenting findings may take several weeks. Oral feedback in the form of a face-to-face session usually occurs within a couple of weeks of testing completion. The oral and written feedback involves discussion of:

  • Assessments used
  • How questions were answered
  • Recommendations based on the results

Depending on the results of the evaluation, your child’s psychologist may recommend medication management and/or counseling
