PET/CT Scans in DeKalb

Positron Emission Tomography (PET) combined with a CT scanner is primarily used for cancer diagnosis. Our PET/CT is located within the KishHealth System Cancer Center at Kishwaukee Hospital in DeKalb.

Our PET/CT is equipped with advanced injector technology not widely available yet that automatically calculates and administers the radiation dose based on a patient’s weight. The average patient dose is reduced by 21.8% over manual injection while maintaining a high level of image clarity.

A chemotherapy patient may need a PET/CT scan every three months to determine how the tumor is responding to treatment. Over the course of treatment, this reduction in radiation exposure can be quite significant for the patient.
