Prevent Cervical Cancer

Women’s health begins with regular pelvic exams and screenings. These routine checks enable your doctor to accurately diagnose and treat menstrual and other gynecological disorders.

The Pap screen is a test performed in a doctor’s office as part of a routine pelvic exam. In this test a small scraping of cervical cells is taken and examined under a microscope for abnormalities. This simple test can be credited with saving the lives of many women with cervical cancer risk.

As another preventative measure against cervical cancer, KishHealth System gynecologists recommend the HPV immunization for girls and young women aged 9 to 26. HPV is the principle cause of cervical cancer. The immunization is given in three doses and helps prevent infection from the strains of HPV that account for 70% of cervical cancer.
